She then decides that the best way to respond to an accusation about appropriating AAVE is by… using a reaction GIF of a black woman.

Anti-Blackness is an Asian problem too, you know. Although, I suspect most Black followers don’t say anything b/c as I said, your written accent comes off less AAVE and more exaggerated Asian accent, or they’re mindful of the fact that your continued use means you’d be dismissive of any concerns raised. And you “took time out to ask”… after someone just told you that yes, they do have a problem with it. How many “I as a black person think this is offensive” do you need? XD

So, *slouches into seat* the moral of the story is, kids, when people demand that you be nice to them in telling them off, they really mean, not in public, and possibly not say anything at all. 

I still think that most of FYCM’s posts are not in AAVE but really now, that’s still bad behaviour. Children are watching.

The first pilot is all about aliens giving their human charges anything that they desire except for true freedom. They seem altruistic, but it’s actually all for their benefit. Social justice (crap!) is achieved when the aliens finally get that through their bulbous heads that human beings need freedom.

There’s Galieo Seven wherein everybody is prejudging Spock because he’s Vulcan, all social justice (crap!). In the end, he goes completely against what they stereotype him as.

And the whale movie, social justice (crap!) for nearly extinct whales…

And three of the best episodes in TNG are about Data’s right to autonomy and his daughter’s and that horrible collector, all social. justice.  (crap!)

Remember how that episode ended after that guy spent the entire time justifying his shit behavior?

Yeah. Even DATA, an emotionless android snapped.

And let’s not forget Far Beyond the Stars from DS9…

If you have an aversion to social justice (crap!) then you ain’t no true Trekkie. 

if tumblr were around when ST:TOS first aired there would be people whining about gene roddenberry obviously just casting a black woman and a Japanese guy out of ~political correctness~ and downplaying the importance of the first interracial kiss on american tv

let’s not even get into DS9’s totally intentional homoerotic subtext and loaded political storylines about colonialism and occupation, or the criticism of the Federation introduced with the Maquis

or the ongoing thing in VOY about the holographic doctor’s personhood and by extension the personhood of artificial intelligences
